What's on at Blaauwklippen Family Market - March 2018
March 5, 2018
With some if the vineyards already stripped of their rich bounty of grapes, we look forward to the gentle approach of autumn. Soon the vineyards will be clad in rich colours of brown, yellow and burgundy.
This time of the year runners enjoy the mild weather. In April Blaauwklippen Family Market and Blaauwklippen Wine Estate will proudly host the Mia Cara Fun Run, so watch the newspapers for this event and enrol. Join us for a day of fun on 15 April.
04 March – Georgian Antique Fair and Mr Browne
Enjoy relaxing on the lawns while listening to Mr Browne and his excellent rendition of favourite songs. He performs a mix of classic rock and roll and some new school songs.
The Gregorian Antique Fair will take place in the Carriage Museum. Visit the stalls with their interesting array of collectables –ceramics, porcelain and beautiful silverware; interesting coins and medals and delicate jewellery.
11 March – Guy Feldman
Painted handbags; garden furniture made from old bicycles; a jeweller practising his trade right there on the market – these are some of the interesting things you will find at the market. Have some potjiekos for lunch and enjoy some delicious elderberry gin cocktails.
What more can one wish for on a beautiful, peaceful Sunday? Of course! Music! On this day Guy Feldman will entertain you with his selection of soft rock hits of the 60s through to the 90s. A bit of The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkal; some Bryan Adams and Dire Straits; Boston and Eric Clapton; Doobie Brothers and Lynard Skynard – just some of the hits you will be able to enjoy.
18 March - Doggy Walk and Newton
Bring your fur child for a walk! We always welcome dogs (on a leash) at the market but on this third Sunday of the month, we are happy to welcome Helderberg Animal Welfare Society to the market. Our Doggy Walk starts at 9h00 and will cost you R20. Your furry friend, of course, walks for free.
Once the Doggy Walk is over, you can relax while your children play nearby on the lawns. With the Zorb balls and miniature train as well as Sticky Soccer Ball Wall nearby, you can keep an eye on them while you enjoy a cool fruit juice or cocktail. It might also be time to decide on lunch: some pizza, a cordon blue schnitzel and potato wedges; some Thai or Chinese?
While you are trying to decide on your lunch or simply browsing amongst stalls, Newton – our musician with the impressive beard – will entertain you with his repertoire of popular songs.
25 March – Gman and the Gingers
Throughout the day, you will be able to listen to the music provided by the Gman and the Gingers. G-Man and the Gingers is a funky acoustic folk, blues, country and reggae act with some fresh sounds; just the right kind of great music for a lazy Sunday. You will enjoy their sublime interpretations of classics from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Tom Perry collections,
It is never too early to start looking for warmer garments for the cooler evenings. Look for a snug hat; a soft scarf or beautiful and comfortable leather shoes at the stalls. Buy some fresh veggies or flowers; homemade jam or olives; some beautifully crafted cheese or a little dress for a very special little girl. Saunter along the road in the shade of the old fig trees and look for special gift for a special person in your life: a fossil, beautifully made cushions and handy little cosmetic bags; toys and art.
