As unbelievable as it sounds, June signifies that we are halfway through this year! The grapes of the 2016 harvest are quietly fermenting; soon to mature into wine. Outside in the vineyards, the vines are resting and replenishing themselves; ready for spring and a new burst of life.
While there is a quiet calm outside in the vineyards we, here at the Blaauwklippen Family Market, are buzzing, for December is only six months away. Planning for the popular Twilight Christmas Market at the end of the year has already started but we will share more on this during the next couple of months.
With the days growing shorter and the temperatures becoming more and more are chilly, we plan to keep you cosy and warm at the market. Soon there will be a warm fire in the wine centre to warm your toes on a rainy day – no excuse for you to miss a market. Come and enjoy a glass of wine and some of our delicious treats for we will we soon have tasty soup; spicy gluwein amongst others on the winter menu. We have also lined up four musicians to keep you warm at the market.
A man who is certainly geared for winter with his beard, Newton Theron, will kick off the month with another pulsating performance of well-known and popular songs.
Ms Barbara Collins and her traders from the now popular Antique Fair will be back inside the Carriage Museum. These traders have so many interesting and rare objects for you to admire and acquire.
Pieter and Eugene of Bandana are back on stage on this day. They will once again perform a variety of popular hits from the 60s and 70s.
Father’s Day! Treat your dad to a memorable day at the market – you can even contact us and book your own special table. When we booked Stuart for this day, he was honoured and promised us a special performance.
Our furry friends from the Helderberg Animal Welfare Society are back for the monthly Vineyard Doggy Walk. Julia and her helpers had a fantastic day at the walk in May when a very large number of dogs and their owners trotted off through the dewy wet grass. The organisers have asked us to convey their gratitude to all of you for your contributions. Please remember that since it is winter, the walk will start at 10h00. All you have to do is to pay your and your dog’s entry fee of R20 at the charity’s stand and off you go!
We are excited to announce that we are teaming up the people of the Revolution Food Fair to bring you our first Low Carb/Banting Market. Visitors who follow this lifestyle can expect all sorts of goods from Low Carb/Banting quiche, breads to sweet treats and more!
Those of you who have followed our first Open Mic event, may recall a certain young man who blew us away with his amazing voice. Because both guests, and traders alike, were constantly enquiring if we could have him back at the market. We have asked Stiaan and he was more than happy to oblige. So, come join us and be prepared to be blown away by this guy during his first live performance. See you there!
